I know that Amazon is bad for the business of book companies and independent publishers, but I can’t help ordering a lot of books there. For example, The Diviners is priced at $19.99, but on Amazon you can get it for 8 dollars cheaper. And even though I wait with anticipation for the books to arrive, it’s such a wonderful feeling when the package arrives in the mail and you open it up and…books! (Admittedly, that happens when I get a review copy too, but on a less grand scale.) I do try to go to Orca as often as possible, but lately they’ve been getting very stingy with how much they’re giving me for my used books. Don’t get me wrong; I love independent bookstores too, but I don’t think Amazon is all bad.
